PKS Pro/Free Agent Development Program

For PKS Pros in the NFL and Arena Football

The Professional Kicking Services, Inc. Pro/Free Agent Development Program for Punters and Kickers is held each spring. With as many as 30 NFL kicking Coaches and Scouting personnel participating, it is football's largest - and by far the most productive - program of its kind in terms of getting players signed to contracts out of the try-out camp. On an annual basis, the PKS Pro/Free Agent Development Program signs more Punters and Kickers to NFL player contracts than the draft and other Free Agent signings.

The foundation of the PKS Pro/Free Agent Development Program is the teaching techniques for Kickers and Punters developed by PKS founder, Ray Pelfrey and now being carried on by his son, current PKS President Rob Pelfrey. These proven techniques include original concepts, as well as new innovations.

Currently there are over 20 Punters and Kickers active on NFL rosters that have at one time either been PKS contract players, or PKS campers that went on to collegiate scholarships or received private "one-on-one" coaching.

How the Program Works

Players interested in the PKS Pro/Free Agent Development Program must receive a pre-program evaluation. Once qualified by PKS, players are allowed to punt or kick before the Scouts. As part of the PKS program, Free Agents receive several days of intense training prior to the final preview day for NFL special teams Coaches and Scouts.

Punters are allowed 10 punts with snaps being taken from an electric Jugs machine. Kickers are allowed four kick offs and kick field goals from each hash mark back to their maximum range. Field goals normally start at 30 yards (20 yard line), with a simulated snap.
